Trust the Pass

Some thoughts on the NBA finals...

In the last play of the Celtics/Magic game, Paul Pierce made the extra pass that would lead to a game-winning shot by Glen Davis (BIG BABY!) After the game Coach Doc Rivers said that Pierce had "trusted the pass". I love this concept; it indicates a sense of trust between the passer and the shooter. It places importance on the pass, and not only on the final shot. It asks teammates to trust each other and to always be ready to receive the pass. If someone is trusting the pass, they must also trust the receiver.

We underestimate the importance of passing in the game. A good pass can make the difference between a made shot and a miss, between a loss and a win. Any great shooter knows how important the pass is. It is the set up, the getting ready that makes a good shot.

Let's have some great passes next season Pioneers.
