Captain's Corner

This Captain's Corner is from Jessica Vaverka. Jessica is a junior on the squad and is from Grinnell originally. She is a pyschology major.

As some of you may know that during my first year I considered leaving Grinnell and the basketball program. Obviously something changed my mind. The reasons I stayed were the people of Grinnell--especially the girls on the team. They showed me how great Grinnell can be and showed just how great of teammates--and friends--I had here. This type of relationship has continued and only grown stronger over the course of my career at Grinnell. I do not think that my teammates understand how truly grateful I am for what they did for me two short years ago. I hope and I know that the first-years entering Grinnell will have similar relationships with their teammates. As members of Grinnell College women's basketball program we are more than just teammates and friends, we are family.

Lastly, I want to say how excited and ready I am for all of us to get to campus and begin another great year at Grinnell. See you all in the fall!
