The Monmouth game did not go as we had hoped. Their two seniors celebrated their senior day with huge performances, just like ours did a week earlier. We couldn't stop their inside presence and were unable to handle their pressure defense.
The 2008-09 Pioneers are fighters though and they fought the entire forty minutes. We saw some very nice play from our younger players and it is excited to realize that the core of our team is intact for next year. We will need to replace Jodi on the perimeter, and that will be a challenge, but I believe our younger players are up to the task.
I spoke to the team in the locker room after the game and told them how proud I was of them. They have achieved more than our record denotes. The foundation of hard work and team work they laid this year will be what our future success is built upon. I am grateful for their patience and willingness to do new things, to let me try out different ideas. We are growing together and I am proud to be a part of this journey.
Thanks Pioneers for a wonderful first season. I wish I could have given you more wins, but I wouldn't change a single day, a single practice... and I'm already impatiently waiting for next season.
